"Corndoll 180" - 27:08:2011 12:00-15:00
The 3 hour race was held on grass this year and had moved to a different farm the other side of the A38. Only one car from last was entered (last years winner) and although it had been lightened it was too much for the gearbox which gave up around lap 40. Yet again it was a Hyundai that won not a coupe this time it was an Accent. There was a wide range of cars entered Audi, BMW, Ford, Honda, JAG! a few Pugs, Skoda, and Vauxhalls. There seemed to be a bit of a TV theme with the Jag as "Dukes of Hazzard" style General Jag, the Skoda as the "Starky" mobile and a BMW with Tractor Ted on top. There were a few different ideas on exhausts a couple came through the passengers side and another through the roof and alot seem to lose them during the race. Money was raise for the Air Ambulances.

"Corndoll 180" - 10:10:2010 12:00-15:00
Due 2009 event at the birkett 6hr, it was decided to give it a miss, so instead we piled over to Gloucestershire to see the "Corndoll 180". It was a 3 hour endurance race held in a field of stubble. It was the first year they'd run it and everyone enjoyed it and said they wanted to go again next year, as do we.
The Winners driving around with a jolly roger attached to the back were in a black Hyundai 2lt Coupe which was probably the only car to stop only for driver and fuel.
Second place was a Peugeot which was fast but just not as consistant as the winner. It was very unfortunate that about 2-3 laps before the end it started smoking and when it pulled into the pit lane after the chequered flag it stopped for good and had to be pushed.
Third according to the lap counters was the first car out after about 20min which was a Ford Ka but was quickly replaced by a Skoda which hadn't been prepared but went on slowly but consistantly till the end.

Other cars were a Vauxhall Cav or Vectra which was quick but as I saw after might have been quicker with offroad tyres, a BMW M3, a BMW Diesel, an Alfa-Romeo which was the early leader but quickly had problems. An Audi Estate and VW Polo.

Last Birkett 2009 6hr - Sat 24th Oct
It was a bit wet this year and maybe too many 7's. A lot of people said it was disappointing that there was less veriety and seemed to be about 20 teams of 7's. Unfortunately there also seemed to be more accidents, still a good day to meet old friends you only see there catch up on things. When will it be televised I'm sure DAVE would show it?
